My name is Kayla. I have been playing the piano since 2000 and have been teaching for 15 years. I live in San Martin, CA with my husband and three children. I graudated with a degree in business management from BYU.
During my students' weekly lessons, I teach piano skills and theory using the Suzuki method. I also use additional books to teach them how to read music and to make it more fun. My goal as a teacher is to help kids learn how to do something well and how to enjoy playing the piano.
My schedule is pretty flexible. I offer lessons Mondays and Thursdays in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Contact me for current available time slots.
I have experience teaching as young as age 3, adults, and all ages in between. I feel there is no wrong time to start learning piano.
When you refer a friend, you will receive two free lessons per student that enrolls when they stay at the studio two months or longer.
You’ll have the option of rescheduling lessons via Zoom, a great alternative to canceling lessons when sick or traveling. I have some students I teach exclusively virtual lessons to. I began virtual lessons during 2020, and have had great results with most students. Though virtual lessons are not recommended for all students, I’m happy to discuss openly the pros and cons of virtual lessons specifically in regard to you or your student.
My website has videos for each lesson on the site. When practicing, you can answer questions or misunderstandings with these videos, or you can use them to progress faster through the songs without missing important skills taught in each song.
I have experience working with children with learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, non-verbal children, and non-English speaking children. I have some Spanish speaking abilities.
Because of my flexible schedule, if you cancel at least 24 hours in advance, the lesson may be rescheduled or rolled over to the next month at no charge.
While studying business management, I learned to apply motivational theories to improve piano performance and enjoyment. I work with my students to develop a personalized rewards program to help them progress in their piano abilities.
My fee is $40 per half hour session. I accept multiple forms of electronic payments, cash, or checks. Payments are made monthly.

The Suzuki Method, also known as Talent Education, is a globally recognized music education philosophy. It is founded on the principle that every child possesses the ability to learn and develop musical talent—much like they naturally acquire their native language—through a supportive environment, listening, repetition, and parental involvement.
Fostering a positive, encouraging, and supportive atmosphere for learning, free of pressure.
Parents actively participate as "home teachers," attending lessons and guiding daily practice.
Children learn by listening to recordings of the Suzuki repertoire daily, internalizing the music deeply.
Constant review and repetition are essential for mastering skills and building a polished repertoire.
Students participate in group classes for motivation, ensemble playing, and social learning.
Instruction can begin at a very young age (often 3-4), capitalizing on early childhood learning abilities.
